The 90th Academy Awards- If I Picked the Winners

I'll keep this short and sweet. Each year I pick who I think should win in their nominated categories. These are my personal choices and not what I think WILL win. As always- I skip over some of the sections where I rarely if ever get a chance to see any or all nominees- namely the Shorts, Documentaries, Foreign, and Animated categories. I mostly focus on the hardcore potentials. I tried my best to see as many of the films as possible. I still haven't seen The Florida Project (for Dafoe), All the Money in the World (for Plummer), or Disaster Artist (for Adapted Screenplay).

I must point out- while I'm glad Blade Runner 2049 fared better in terms of overall nominations compared to the Golden Globes, it still very unfortunately missed out on the higher up categories- especially Best Director (probably the only time Nolan would get edged out) as well as Screenplay and Picture.

The 89th Academy Awards- If I Picked the Winners

A very quick rundown of my picks for the Oscars this year. I won't go into detail about why I picked each one, this is just a very basic list with some purty pictures. La La Land probably will and should win the majority of its awards in my opinion, but there are a few areas where I think other films came up just slightly better in terms of their execution on a technical level. It boils down to La La Land versus Moonlight in terms of genuine quality and cinematic importance and originality for the most part. It's a very tight race in a lot of ways and some of these choices were surprisingly hard to pick- there were some where I felt it almost a bit unfortunate to not pick one film over or another and its merely details and nitpicks over small things in the losers that had the victor win out.

As always I intentionally 'overlook' (i.e. ignore) the Short Films, Documentaries, and Animated Stuff by virtue of me not having seen them.

Here's a quick, unsurprising and repetitive break down of my personal picks for all of the major nominees this year. I'm skipping the usual Shorts and Documentaries and Animated stuff and Foreign language stuff because I didn't see any of them. As usual- didn't get to see everything- Steve Jobs, Trumbo, Straight Outta Compton, and Carol being the more notably missed ones.

The 87th Academy Awards- If I Picked the Winners

I present to you what my personal picks would be for the Oscars this year. I've seen the majority of the main nominees and being a judgmental jerk I've predicted what movies won't win because they're either bad or simply don't have a chance in hell. For example, I haven't seen Grand Budapest Hotel because I hate Wes Anderson with a burning passion.

I'm gonna skip a couple of the lesser-known awards like for Documentary and the Short Subjects mainly because I have next to no interest in them as films (not to be too disparaging of course).

Keep in mind, I'm not saying that these selections have ANY chance of winning, they're just my personal picks. And I'm only going to include names of people when I think they're significant or important. Also, I'm not gonna give super specific blurbs about any one of them, I'm just making a list. It's that simple.
